My self-portrait work uses my own image to explore identity, memory, and the experience of living between cultures, landscapes, and languages. These oil paintings began as a way to understand my life as a Costa Rican American woman from Kentucky, and the distance I often felt from the places that shaped me. Through direct likeness, symbolism, and staged compositions, the work asks how a body can hold belonging and isolation at once.
